Meet Natalie, our latest recruit!
Natalie Adams may have joined us at 10 Devonshire Place just a few weeks ago, but she’s already brimming with ideas which we’re sure will really help to drive the pub forward.
Working alongside owners Andi and Steve Aikman, Natalie will be building a strong team of people who, like us, have a real passion for craft beers, ciders, wines and spirits.
A key to the continued success of 10 Devonshire Place is giving our customers what they want – whether that’s a particular type of craft beer or a wine or gin they tried on holiday and haven’t been able to find since. So Natalie has also been getting to know our customers and finding out what they’d like to see on our drinks menu, as well as any special events they’d like us to host.
Natalie will also be promoting our new online shop, which sells a wide variety of craft beers, cider, gin and wine, including Christmas hampers.
She says: “With the launch of our online shop and the start of a busy winter of special events, it’s more important than ever that we get the message out about what we offer.
“It’s also crucial that we get the right team in place. We’re looking to develop the skills of the people who already work for 10 Dev, but also to bring in new staff members who have expertise in a particular area such as real ale or gin. Our ethos of selling independent beers and spirits that are hard to find or are a bit out-of-the-ordinary has worked really well with our customers, and we’re confident it will be popular with our online visitors too.
“We now need our team to be confident and knowledgeable in sourcing new drinks for our ever-changing menu from independent brewers and producers, as well as advising customers on our latest drinks and offers.”
Natalie, 32, has lived in Harrogate all her life and has worked in the local hospitality industry since leaving school. So she’s really well known around town and has a good following of people wherever she goes.
She began as a pot washer at the Army Foundation College on Pennypot Lane before also taking on jobs at a care home and the hospital – working all three at the same time!
That hard work ethic saw her progress rapidly through the ranks at her next job working for Damn Yankee Ltd. From a role as supervisor, Natalie was promoted after just a couple of months to a managerial position. She remained at the company for six years before moving on to Caffé Nero. It was there that she learned how to train people and ensure a business has the best possible team.
After that, Natalie became a ‘store builder’ for Caffé Nero, a trouble-shooting role which saw her go into struggling or new outlets and turn them around.
So we’re really looking forward to working with her at 10 Devonshire Place, and the next time you pop in, come and say hello to her!
